The police officers that used violence against a protester during the St. Nicholas festival in Rotterdam on November 12 will not be prosecuted. During the event, members of the group Kick out Black Pete held a protest, despite the fact that the mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb, had announced a temporary protesting ban. When the protesters ignored this, they were violently arrested. The Office of the Public Prosecutor believes that the police handled the situation appropriately and the use of violence was legitimate.
