Together with the Dutch Association of Defence Counsel, the law firm Prakken d'Oliveira is starting interim injunction proceedings against the Dutch state because the Dutch intelligence service has for years been eavesdropping on lawyers. Last year, the minister of the interior, Ronald Plasterk, declared a complaint by Prakken d'Oliveira partly admissible, but refused to take measures to protect the right of lawyers to legal privilege. The lawyers deem eavesdropping to be in breach of the European Convention on Human Rights and EU law.
