A Dutch court has ordered that the Data Protection Authority (DPA) has to research more opportunities for Dutch Railways (NS) to process travelers' data, despite the fact that the DPA earlier decided that the NS complies with the Data Protection Act. The man who initiated the lawsuit did not agree that discounted subscriptions were only available to those with a personalized OV-chipkaart (the card that provides access to public transport) and not to those with an anonymous card. This way, the NS can keep track of travel, which is a violation of privacy, according to the man.
