Research by the Dutch National Agency for Identity Data shows that on average, one out of every 10 passports has the fingerprints upside down. It has been a few years since fingerprints, processed in a chip, began being recorded. According to Minister of the Interior Ronald Plasterk, there are no direct implications for citizens, as the fingerprints have not yet been used.
