About 15,000 people in the German city of Dresden have taken part in a demonstration against the “Islamization of the West.” Participants noted their displeasure over having to pay for accommodations for asylum seekers, among other things. Dresden is the birthplace of "Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West" (Pegida), a movement that has staged protests called “a disgrace” by Justice Minister Heiko Maas, and Chancellor Merkel has urged people not to be exploited by their extremist views.
