A global fund to replace family-planning aid from the US has raised €292 million, outgoing Dutch Development Minister Liliane Ploumen revealed on Monday. The Dutch government had announced the fund in January, following US President Donald Trump's decision to terminate US aid money to healthcare groups that provide or inform about abortions. That decision created a shortfall of €600 million, but Minister Ploumen promised at the time that her government would do everything possible to ensure that women "remain in control of their own bodies."
