Whatever our party, most of us agree that we should be free to vote for the leaders we want. At the moment, we can make that choice knowing what our candidates stand for in the EU.

But today, certain politicians are pushing a new plan that would allow them to manipulate voters.

Certain politicians want new powers to divide and manipulate us

They want to use deeply personal information about us like our religion, race, sexual orientation or our state of our health to target us with personalized ads.

We know how some politicians have used this to promise different things to different voters, to spread lies and to discourage many of us from turning up to vote at all.

Let’s save Europe from more Trump wannabes

Think back to the Cambridge Analytica scandal, where a company helped Trump win the presidential election by using data from the Facebook profiles of U.S. voters to spread misinformation and deter Black Americans from going to the polls.

In a democracy, we choose our leaders, not the other way around. When we ban politicians from using our sensitive data against us, we can protect our freedom to choose our futures.
