Belgium’s migration minister
has been under pressure for organising deportation of Sudanese migrants.
Several of the deportees said Sudanese officials tortured them upon arrival. Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel defended the minister, Theo Francken, over
allegations he lied about the affair. Michel said Francken "had not
given all the information" when he said there would be no more
repatriation flights to Sudan before the end of January. In fact, one flight had been scheduled, but was later cancelled. Michel said there will be
no more repatriations until an investigation is complete.
