A coalition including the lawyer association RAV has offered free legal counsel in front of Berlin's authority for health and social affairs (LAGeSo), where refugees have to wait for days, sometimes even weeks, to file their applications. Before this procedure, they do not get shelter or official aid. Berlin's Social Court has repeatedly compelled LAGeSo to provide shelter for the refugees. "But LAGeSo consistently ignores this court ruling and systematically carries on with its illegal practice," says a RAV lawyer. RAV wants to increase pressure by starting as many legal cases as possible.
