A group of French lawyers will file a complaint against Bulgaria and ask the European Commission to start an infringement procedure because of the government's treatment of asylum seekers. The move was announced on 26 June by the Green/EFA group. The lawyers presented a 20-page report that includes deeply disturbing testimony by Afghan asylum seekers. Bulgaria saw the arrival of some 60,000 asylum seekers in 2015-2016, but most of them rapidly left, with many blaming the hostile environment in the country.
