Over 1,500 people took part in this year's Sofia Pride, held on June 27. This was announced by the organizers, who count the participants each year by placing indicators in the crowd on every assembly point of the march. This makes Sofia Pride 2015 the most attended pride parade in the capital of Bulgaria so far.
The strong anti-gay voices and media campaigns the week before Sofia Pride did not stop LGBTI and heterosexual supporters alike from taking part in the march.
The organizers of Sofia Pride expressed gratitude to all who supported the march and the cultural week prior to the rally, including corporate sponsors, political parties (The Greens and DEOS) and 18 diplomatic missions. Sofia Directorate of the Interior also received special thanks for ensuring that the entire week of pride took its normal course. So far the organizers have not received reports of serious incidents.
