Having finished its investigation into the complaint submitted this July by convicts claiming that officers used violence against them without justification, the Ombudsmen’s Office of the Lithuanian Parliament found that the men were beaten with batons and shields, punched and kicked during a search. Citing a medical report of their injuries, the complaint was upheld and the authorities were urged to start a pre-trial investigation. The Prison Department denies any use of special measures against said individuals. This isn’t the first time Lithuanian prisoners complain of human rights abuses.
