The Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania has finally resolved the dispute between the Vilnius City Municipality and the State that had been going on for more than two years. The State argued, with support from the State Commission of the Lithuanian Language, that bilingual house signs violated language laws. The court disagreed, however, emphasising that the signs were written in the languages of Lithuanian minorities, with the accompanying illustrations depicting their national symbols. The court ruled that bilingual signs contribute to the recognition of national minorities.
