The Doula Association of Lithuania has appealed to the country's President, Parliament, and Government, criticising both doctors and police for the rough treatment of a woman who was giving birth. Both the inappropriate measures against the mother at the clinic, and the unacceptable response of the authorities to this human rights violation are cause for concern, according to the association. “Carrying out procedures against the person’s will, using psychological pressure and physical force are a gross violation of human rights and are tantamount to violence."
