A new campaign by the Dutch government aims to prevent youngsters of migrant descent from being involuntarily married off in Morocco, Turkey or another country of origin. They can find information, help and advice on a dedicated website (in Dutch). According to the minister of social affairs and employment, Lodewijk Asscher, youngsters between 16 and 25 years of age are particularly susceptible to arranged marriages. It's estimated that hundreds of people in the Netherlands become victims of arranged marriage every year. Exact figures are not available, as it often happens in secret.
