Protests have been held across the Netherlands in support for the gay couple attacked last week in Arnhem, allegedly because they were holding hands. The demonstrations took place in that city, where some 2,500 people showed up, as well as in Eindhoven and The Hague. The protests follow the public stand taken last week by politicians in the Netherlands and abroad. One of the victims, Jasper Vernes-Sewratan, thanked protesters and said they had "pulled us through this terrible week," according to reports by AFP news agency.
