The European Commission has released its annual report on the application of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. The report, published May 18, provides insight into the initiatives that were launched by the EU in 2016 to protect fundamental rights. Attention was also given to how fundamental rights were applied, for example in protecting personal data and improving consumer rights. The report also notes which important actions were taken, such as the EU-US Privacy Shield.
