The center-right EPP and liberal ALDE political groups of the European Parliament have called for a special committee to probe failures by EU states in the fight against terrorism. MEPs want to analyze the lack of police cooperation and errors in cross-border investigations. Group leaders Manfred Weber and Guy Verhofstadt argue that terrorists behind the recent attacks were already registered in databases and that the exchange of information did not work. The EC has been working for a while with states to figure out how to improve data sharing and interoperability between EU-level databases.
