After a secretive July decision by the 14 European Parliament (EP) vice-presidents to go with minimal transparency over MEPs' expenses, on Tuesday Livia Jaroka, the EP's vice-president responsible for access to documents, refused to release details of the questioned meeting after a request from online news site EUobserver. Currently, MEPs get a monthly allowance of 4,416 euros for office-related expenses, but are not required to keep receipts (WATCH OUR VIDEO) or return any unused money. The EP's decision constitutes a refusal of several reforms requested by a majority of MEPs.
