The Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities has visited Spain this July to review the implementation of this Convention. One of the issues requiring urgent action, according to the last recommendations in July 2013, was to “eliminate the practice of 'ethnic profiling' by the police.” During their visit, the committee members met with authorities and civil society groups, which explained that Spain has done nothing meaningful to eradicate discriminatory practices by police. The Advisory Committee will issue its conclusions in early 2015.
