Hackers successfully accessed European Union diplomatic cables over a period of several years, according to reporting from The New York Times. The intercepted messages, numbering in the thousands, discussed a broad range of topics, from Donald Trump to trade. EU officials have said that despite the hacks, no confidential messages were accessed. According to initial reports, the methods used by the hackers closely mirrored those that have previously been deployed by the Chinese military.
