EU member states imposing border controls to stop migrants coming from Greece will have to end them before the end of year. This means that Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and non-EU member Norway will only be allowed to extend existing controls for one final six-month period. The controls, begun in 2015, can't be extended any longer under EU rules unless a new reason or threat emerges. "This is the last prolongation, I repeat it, this is the last prolongation," EU migration and home affairs commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos said on Tuesday, May 2.
