Dutch parliamentarians passed a motion on Tuesday demanding EU- and national-level 'Magnitsky Acts' against Russia and other human rights abusers. They gave a five-month deadline for the Council of Ministers and hope to team up with Baltic and Nordic states to push through the law at EU level. In case the proposal fails at European level, the Netherlands will proceed at national level. A so-called Magnitski law is already in force in a number of other countries, including the United States and Great Britain.
