The EU Roma Strategy agreed to in 2011 has not brought results in integrating Europe’s largest minority. Poverty, discrimination and
racism among Roma across the EU is unchanged. The EC launched
infringement procedures against the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia for
Roma children being largely segregated in schools. EC Justice Commissioner Vera
Jourova said: "It is not a hesitation on my side or not to continue to the
next level (of infringements). The relevant date for making a decision is
November, when we see the new figures."
