A few months after the European People’s Party chose not to expel its Hungarian member Fidesz, the the European Parliament group may decide to do so at its March 20 assembly, according EPP sources speaking to the Guardian. The event is intended to approve EPP’s manifesto before European Parliament elections in May. Expelling Fidesz surfaced on the agenda again after the government of Viktor Orbán launched an aggressive anti-EU poster campaign (accompanied by a direct mailing sent to households in Hungary) targeting the European Commission leader, Jean-Claude Juncker, who is also in the EPP.
