Defend Europe is the name of the new and extremely worrisome initiative of "homeland" protection by some European extreme-right groups. A few months ago, activists from Italy, France and Germany started a crowdfunding campaign to rent a ship through Paypal, which stopped the fundraiser as soon as it realized the purpose of it. Nevertheless, they managed to hire a boat and they are now heading for the Mediterranean Sea. The goal of these groups is to challenge NGO search and rescue activities, making sure migrants are dealt with by Libya's Coast Guard and never reach Europe.
