In light of the unprovoked jeering and beating of cleaning ladies and journalists by police officers outside Greece's Ministry of Finance, the Hellenic League for Human Rights underlines with regret the established mentality towards violence and its pervasiveness in our culture, as well as the lamentable inability of the state to enforce the law throughout its own administrative bodies, especially the armed ones, and ensure that they act with legitimacy and show respect for citizens' fundamental rights.
