After clashes between Afghans and
Eritreans in Calais, France, at least five migrants have been shot. Four young Eritrean men were taken to a local hospital for surgery in
critical condition, while a fifth was taken to the city of Lille for severity
of his injuries. The local prosecutor's office said at least 13 more
people were wounded due to blows from iron bars. Gérard Collomb, the French interior minister, visited Calais overnight and said the clashes had been
extremely serious. The initial fight broke out on the city's southern
outskirts, where migrants had been queuing for food handouts.
