A legal complaint has been filed against one of the founders of far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD). Alexander Gauland, a lead candidate for parliament in the September election, is accused of inciting racial hatred after he made comments during a weekend campaign rally about Aydan Özoğuz, the government’s integration commissioner. Özoğuz, who has Turkish roots, recently wrote in an article that "a specifically German culture" is difficult to identify beyond language. This prompted Gauland to say that she should be "disposed of" in Anatolia.
