Gay marriage was voted through with a clear majority in the
German Bundestag on Friday morning. MPs passed a law that allows full marital
rights for LGBTQ people and allows them to adopt children. Chancellor Angela
Merkel only dropped her opposition a few days ago and told her conservative
party members to "follow their conscience." German opposition parties
were strongly in favor of the law, which enshrines the following
wording into law: "Marriage is entered into for life by two people of different or
the same sex."
