A mayor in Germany has survived a knife attack that police believe was motivated by his liberal stance on immigration. Andreas Hollstein, conservative mayor of the town of Altena, was stabbed in the neck in a kebab shop. He was treated in hospital and is currently recovering with his family. Altena is well known throughout Germany for having accepted more than its share of migrants. German media outlets are reporting that the attacker shouted criticism of the mayor's asylum policy during the attack.
