Berlin has asked the European Commission to put the brakes on its proposal for a stronger EU cybersecurity agency. Speaking at a Cybersec conference in Krakow on October 10, a German government official said that EU member states should first focus on implementing the rules that have already been agreed. The first pan-EU set of rules on cybersecurity, the directive on security of network and information systems (NIS), was agreed in July 2016, but the EU commission last month published a legislative proposal that would further beef up cybersecurity.
