Oxfam, a non-governmental charity organisation, said last week that Greece intends to move about 5,000 migrants from the Greek islands to the mainland. Nicola Bay, the head of Oxfam's mission in Greece, called the decision "a very positive step that will save lives." At the beginning of December, reception facilities on Lesbos, Chios, Samos, Leros and Kos were running over capacity by more than 7,000 places.
