The human rights organization the Hungarian Helsinki Committee (HHC) is alleging that the authorities in the country are denying food to failed asylum seekers in transit zones. The allegations come on top of fierce criticism by the HHC and other groups against new rules intended to pressure asylum seekers to leave Hungary. The HHC says the practice now is for authorities to informs foreigners that they will denied food in the transit zone in an effort to exert enough pressure on them that they leave the country quickly, instead of pursuing court appeals against inadmissibility decisions.
