In a case brought by Slovakia and Hungary to the European Court of Justice challenging the obligatory relocation of asylum seekers across the EU, the court's top advisor rejected their argument. The two countries argued that the EU's plan to have each member state host a certain number of refugees was unlawful. The relocation system was designed to ease migration pressure in Greece and Italy. The court's advocate general, Yves Bot, rejected most of the arguments presented by the governments and concluded the resettlement scheme is appropriate. A final ECJ ruling is expected after the summer.
