In a surprisingly generous move, Hungary is accepting hundreds of Venezuelan refugees. According to Hungarian news site Index, the newcomers, who are fleeing the socialist Maduro dictatorship, are receiving free plane tickets and free accommodation for a year. On top of that, the state is offering language classes and work permits allowing them to work a few weeks upon arrival. Hungarian authorities only examine whether the refugees, most of whom do not speak Hungarian, have Hungarian ancestors. In return, they are being asked to keep quiet, raising questions as to the nature of the program.
