An Israeli firm relying on semi-legal intelligence and surveillance techniques and working with ex-spies was behind the recent attacks against Hungarian NGOs.
Civil society organisations, including Liberties and Migration Aid, were approached
in the name of non-existing private firms with the promise of support. Intelligence
service reports brought evidence that the Hungarian services were aware of the
actions but did not take any counter measures. The main actors remain unknown, but the Orbán government used these secretly recorded talks against
NGOs during election campaign event.
