In Italy, more and more companies are offering their homosexual employees the same benefits that are acknowledged to their heterosexual employees. The 14-day paid honeymoon period and other key benefits are indeed now provided even to those who would like to enter into same-sex marriages abroad (which are not even recognized in Italy). An Italian call center in Milan was the first company to allow a gay employee time off to get a civil union in Germany, in 2013, effectively sanctioning the practice. When will the Italian state step up and start doing its part?
