Italy hosts many U.S. military bases due to its strategic position on the Mediterranean. Last year, an agreement allowed one of the bases to host armed drones, relatively new weapons of contemporary conflicts. This deal, however, has been implemented with an absolute lack of transparency on every aspect of the use of these drones. Therefore, CILD, Rete Italiana per il Disarmo and ECCHR decided to organize a conference on September 25 in Milan in order to raise awareness and start a public debate on the implications of the use of drones under international law.
