An investigative news agency, Atlatszo.hu, has published the correspondence between the Hungarian Government Control Office (KEHI) and the Financial Mechanism Office managing the Norway Grants NGO Fund. The documents reveal that Hungarian authorities are not authorized to examine grants awarded to civil organizations. In this light, it is all the more controversial that the KEHI threatens uncooperative organizations with the suspension of their tax number, and has already punished the four consortium members responsible for the distribution of funds.
