The Lithuanian Parliament has now adopted its own version of the Magnitsky Act. The vote was unanimous - all 91 MPs present at the plenary session were in favor of amending the Law on Legal Status of Foreigners in line with the proposal submitted by the Conservative Party. The amendments prohibit foreigners linked to large-scale corruption, money laundering or human rights abuses from entering the country. Lithuania is the fourth country in the world to adopt such an act, following the US, Canada and Estonia. The law will come into force on 1 January 2018, after receiving presidential assent.
