This year's Eurovision in Austria again sparked a storm of discussion in Lithuania about LGBT individuals and their rights. The Independent noted that while the Russian representative sang about peace, Lithuanians kissed on stage with members of the same sex. There is little doubt as to the good intentions of the performers, but the situation is ironic: Russia, after annexing Crimea and sparking conflict in eastern Ukraine, sends a message of peace, while Lithuania, with seven homophobic or transphobic bills pending before Parliament, invites you to support the LGBT community.
