According to the newest
Eurobarometer study on immigrants and immigration, Lithuanian residents think that for integration to be successful, it has to be a two-way process,
dependent on both society and the immigrants themselves (70%).
The respondents agreed that successful integration depends on the immigrants
knowing the national language well (92%), paying taxes (94%) and assuming local
values and customs (90%). Respondents didn’t think so highly of civil
empowerment – participating in associations or local elections (54%) or gaining
citizenship (42%).
