The Italian Parliament is finally evaluating a proposal on detainees' right to affection in prison. The question has already been heatedly discussed in the past, which is why Adriano De Zan (the relator of the law proposal) and Donatella Ferranti (president of the Parliamentary Justice Commission) have intervened to make some clarifications: it must be indeed clear that we are not only talking about sex, but about a wider range of intimacy. In other words, human dignity and family relationships must be protected, even in prisons (possibly following the example of the Bollate penitentiary).
