Luxembourg lawmakers in June unanimously supported a law legalizing medical cannabis. Patients suffering from chronic pain, nausea related to chemotherapy, or muscle spasms resulting from multiple sclerosis will be able to get access to prescribed cannabis. The law grants general practitioners the right to prescribe cannabis if they have undertaken relevant training. Patients' rights organizations criticize the law for being too restrictive, prohibiting for example the prescription of cannabis for sleeping problems, depression or pain.
