The EU’s top justice official will visit Malta this week to meet officers investigating the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. The visit by Věra Jourová, the EU commissioner for justice, comes after a damning report by MEPs accused Maltese authorities of trying to delay attempts to find those who wanted the journalist dead. The criminal investigation has also been criticised by Europol. It was previously reported that three suspects in the killing were tipped off by police before they could be arrested.
