German police have arrested a man for the rape and murder of Bulgarian journalist Viktoria Marinova. Mladen Marinov, the Bugarian Interior Minister, said the suspect's DNA matched evidence recovered from the crime scene. Marinova was a presenter for the TVN channel, and her last show covered alleged corruption related to EU funds. She was investigating the same case the EU anti-fraud agency started looking into last month. Although Marinova had been planning a trip to uncover more about the case, there is no evidence as yet that her murder was politically motivated.
