A study has found that mentally disabled Roma people in Lithuania suffer from social exclusion on two levels - not only is it difficult for them to find a place in society, the Roma community itself ignores their needs. "Mentally disabled Roma in Lithuania are inseparable from their family or from the Roma community, but their special needs are not understood. Unfortunately, the Roma live in social exclusion practically anywhere, and it is unavoidable that intellectually disabled Roma suffer from rejection twice," said a social worker from the Lithuanian Roma Community Center.
