Earlier this month, during a late-night, closed-door meeting, the governing body of the EP voted against the most modest proposals for introducing some accountability over how members of the European Parliament, or MEPs, use their expense allowances.
They’re supposed to use expense accounts - which are funded by your tax dollars - for business-related costs. But some MEPs have used them honeymoons, new cars and fine wines.
