Despite the international attention surrounding Poland's controversial new Holocaust bill, German Chancellor Angela Merkel declined to comment when asked about it on Saturday, 10 February. The law imposes jail time of up to three years for suggesting the country was complicit in the Holocaust. Merkel said she did not want to wade into Poland’s domestic affairs, adding: "We as Germans are responsible for what happened during the Holocaust, the Shoah, under National Socialism."
